McCarty Funeral Will Be Friday

Funeral rites for Jessie T. McCarty, 70, of West Monroe, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Winnsboro with the Revs. Jerry Carter and George Bonner officiating.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

Mr. McCarty died in the St. Francis Hospital late Wednesday after a long illness.

He was a resident of 1120 Evergreen Street.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy McCarty, West Monroe; five sons, Kirby of Tallulah, Lanie of San Antonio, Tex., Ernest of Ruston, Odell and Rosefield McCarty, both of West Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Bertis Brown and Mrs. Mamie White, both of West Monroe; three brothers, Brincefield McCarty, Sulphur, George McCarty of Winnsboro, Elmer McCarty of Dumas, Tex.; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Day of Winnsboro, Mrs. Lillie Jones of Jigger, Mrs. Estelle Carter of Beaumont, Tex., and Mrs. Alma Sandling, Kerman, Calif.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Jo Ann Thomas of Winnsboro, and Mrs. Katherine Dickey of Homestead, Fla.; and 23 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Funeral services were held today at the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Winnsboro for Jessie T. McCarty, 70, of West Monroe. Mr. McCarty died late Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital following a long illness.

Burial was held in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

Pallbearers were his nephews.
