LEE

Jewel Cox, born July 16, 1896 at Enterprise, I.T., died Jan. 20, 1991. She obtained a teaching certificate from what is now Central State Univ. and taught in Spiro, where she met and married Manton Lee in 1920. She was a caseworker with the Dept. of Public Welfare in Leflore County, retiring in 1962.

After her husband's death and that of her 4 brothers, Basil, Cecil, Glen and Paul, she moved to Okla. City to be near her daughters, Evelyn and Dorothy, who survive. Jewel was a Christian and long time member of the Spiro Baptist Church. She loved to fish and camp and spent many happy times at Lake Eufaula with friends.

In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Lenzie Cox, Ft. Worth, Tx.; nieces, Jane McDaniel, Ft. Worth, Debbie Rushing, Durant, and nephew, Paul Cox Jr., Ft. Worth.

We gratefully acknowledge the care and love given our mother by Mary L. Graves who was her companion and care giver the last three years. Also to the nursing staff in I.C.U. Bethany General Hospital, our heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care given our mother.

Graveside services 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Spiro City Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home, Spiro, Ok.
