Jim Slade

Final rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon for Jim Slade, 74, of Baskin, who died Monday afternoon while a patient in the U. S. Veterans Hospital at Alexandria, after an extended illness.

The funeral was at the Baskin Church, and interment was in the Union Cemetery, near Baskin, with the Rev. Jimmy Shepherd officiating. Masonic services were conducted at the graveside.

Mr. Slade is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Slade, Baskin; two sons, Robert Lee Slade, Bastrop, and J. C. Slade, Baskin; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Finklea, Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Barber, Tylertown, Miss., and Mrs. Leona Patton Jena; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Slade was a member of the Winnsboro Masonic Lodge and the Baskin Baptist Church. He was a World War I veteran.
