Jimmy Eugene Freeman
(February 11, 1938 - May 21, 2008)

Jimmy Eugene Freeman, born Feb. 11, 1938, was a resident of Zachary and a retired sales account executive with Proctor & Gamble. He passed away and went home to Jesus Christ in the arms of the angels on Wednesday, May 21, 2008. He was 70, a native of Meadville, Miss., and served his country during the Cold War.

Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Thursday, May 22, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Zachary, on Friday, May 23, from noon until Rite of Christian Burial at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. M. Jeffery Bayhi. Burial in Azalea Rest Cemetery.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Jane Gauthier Freeman; two daughters, Jennifer Freeman Dupré and Julie Freeman, both of Zachary; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Sandy Freeman, of Zachary, and Ronnie and Susan Freeman, of Watson; and three grandchildren, Austin Keith Toney, Victoria Grace Toney and Jake Cappel Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Jefferson and Versie Mae Freeman.

Pallbearers will be Charles Freeman, Ronnie Freeman, Kyle Freeman, Austin Toney, Coleman Dupré, Buddy Doming, Corey Freeman, Steve Gauthier and Jake Robinson.

With bravery and courage, he fought a long, painful battle against cancer. A true force of nature, he outlived the expectations of the beautiful medical minds of MD Anderson Cancer Center. In his life, his legacy was built on a remarkable character of strength, simplicity and humility. He was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren and was a pillar of strength to his family. He was a friend to the haves and have-nots, a giver to many and a stranger to few. He was loved by so many and his humor and spirit will forever live within our hearts.
