Jimmy Glen LaGrone

Funeral services for Jimmy Glen LaGrone, 69, of the Deadwood Community, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Harold Gunstanson and Homer Powell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. He died Thursday at his home.

Born March 6, 1931 in Deadwood, he was the son of Jeff David and Oleat Beatrice Plunkett LaGrone. He was reared and attended schools in Deadwood where he spent his entire lifetime. He married Jo Nell Emmons on May 28, 1952 and they celebrated 48 years of marriage. He worked for Panola County as a foreman for the road and bridge department retiring after 31 years of service.

LaGrone was a member of the Deadwood United Pentecostal Church, and the Overflow Branch and L & H Hunting Clubs. He was a known sportsman but nothing came before the love he felt for his family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and J.D. LaGrone.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Nell LaGrone, of Deadwood; son and daughter-in-law, Glen Dale and Carolyn LaGrone, of Deadwood; daughters and sons-in-law, Jimmy Nell and Jimmy Oliver, Bobbie Ann and Wayne Harrison, and Brenda and Rodger McLane, all of Deadwood; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Florene LaGrone, of Antioch, Conway and Juanita LaGrone, of Deadwood, Jeff and Juanita LaGrone, of Carthage, and Curtis and Dois LaGrone, of McKinney.

Also, surviving LaGrone are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Claudia Hutchins, of McKinney, Lucille and Raymond Farmer, of Joaquin, and Allie and Larry Dickerson, of Lafayette, La.; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Elizabeth Harrison, Brandi McLane, Shaun Oliver, Renee and Jody Cherry, Jason Glen and Marilynn Harrison, Lacie McLane, Mitchell Harrison, Kerrie LaGrone, and Rodger Glen McLane, all of Deadwood.

Other survivors include his great-grandchildren, Ashley Cherry, Dyonna Harrison, Mary Lynn Harrison, Hunter Cherry and Anna Harrison; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Harrison, Shaun Oliver, Jason Glen Harrison, Mitchell Harrison, Rodger Glen McLane and Jody Cherry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Willis LaGrone, Lynn LaGrone and David LaGrone.
