Jimmy R. Mason

Jimmy R. Mason, 65, died of heart failure Wednesday, September 12, 2007, while on vacation with his family in Menomonee, Wisconsin. Jimmy was born December 21, 1941, and married Joan Kay Brown of Lucedale on March 25, 1972. Visitation is today from 3-7 p.m. and Monday, September 17, at 10:00 a.m. at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street in Jackson. The service will be held in the Chapel at Wright & Ferguson Monday at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in the Bolton Cemetery.

Jimmy has been a life long resident of Bolton, with everything in his life beginning with family. He was a farmer, cattle owner, and for a number of years has been self-employed in dirt construction. While watching his daughters grow up, he has been very involved with the Hinds County 4-H livestock program. He also served for a number of years as a board member for Central Hinds Academy. He was an ordained deacon, and an active member of Bolton Baptist Church. Jimmy is preceded in death by his Mother, Emily Reed Mason and brother, David R. Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Brown Mason of Bolton; his daughter, Sandy Mason Havard and her husband, Mark of Bolton; his granddaughter, Stella Rebekah Havard; his daughter, Kristy Mason Washburn and her husband, Ben of Raymond; his father, H. Lafloy Mason of Bolton; brothers, Robert Kelly Mason of Clinton, Dennis Mason and Tommy Mason, both of Bolton; sisters, Kathy Maulden and Emily Nowell, both of Bolton and a number of nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his biggest fan, “Dixie” his little white Jack Russell Terrier.
