SHREVEPORT, LA - Services for Jimmye Thornton Box Emmons will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2004 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Chapel. Officiating will be Bro. Jim Ewing. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park..
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Rose-Neath Marshall Street Funeral Home.
Jimmye was born April 23, 1928 in Sikes, LA and passed away Monday, May 10, 2004 at Christus Schumpert Highland. She graduated from Sikes High School and attended Dodd College in Shreveport. Jimmye and her first husband, the late James Box, owned and operated Blanchard Drugs for over 25 years. A member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, she was a homemaker. Jimmye married a childhood friend, Glenroy Emmons, in 2001. They enjoyed retirement, traveled abroad and all over the United States, and shared time in Shreveport and Hot Springs Village, AR.
Her parents, Dewey and Audie Thornton; first husband, James Box; and brothers, Donald and Dale Thornton preceded her in death.
Survivors are her husband, Glenroy Emmons of Hot Springs Village, AR; son, Ron Box and wife, Marion of Arlington, TX; daughter, LuLu Box Martin and husband, Robb of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Dillon and Cade Cannon and Jorn and Kail Paige; five great grandchildren; sister, Dot Adams and husband, Arlon of Start, LA; brother, Perk Thornton and wife, Bev of Metairie, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be dearly missed. Her sweet and gentle spirit will live in our hearts forever.
