Funeral for Jo Ann Meredith, 73, of Fairview will be Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Dr. Rob Jackson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Meredith, who died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at her home, was born July 13, 1933, in Caldwell Parish, La., to Trowley J. and Ruby Carpenter Whitten. She will be remembered as a sweet lady, devoted wife, mother and grandmother and for her ministry for more than 40 years to the three-year-old Sunday school class at Central Baptist Church in Decatur with E.J. Briscoe.
Survivors include her husband, Oliver D. Meredith; one daughter, Cindy Parker of Fairview; one granddaughter, Laura Parker of Fairview; one grandson, Paul Young of Columbia, Tenn.; two brothers, Guy and Godfrey Whitten, and one sister, Johnnie Whittington, all of Grayson, La.
Pallbearers will be Billy Crosswhite, Cliff Files, John Taylor, Marvin Taylor, Erwin Simon and Harold Walrond.
Honorary pallbearer will be E.F. Briscoe.
