Joan B. Scribner
Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Joan died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana after a bout with pneumonia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil M. Scribner, her parents, Harold and Eula Bolden, and her grandson, Alex Crump.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Funk; her children and their spouses: Jim and Diana Rowland, Randall and Patricia Scribner, Russell and Susan Scribner, Eddie and Kathi Legg, and Ryan and Kristi Soland; her grandchildren and their spouses: Kent and Marcia Ruddell, Tommy and Jodi Rowland, Alicia Davis, Neli Scribner, Andrew and Sara Kell, Aaron and Emily Peters, Lee and Michelle Scribner, Lee and Tasha Townsend, John and Forrest Crump, Ainsley, Addie, Ayden (and Mulligan) Soland; her great-grandchildren: Tarrah, Gage, Gunner and Zeb Ruddell, Abby and Ashleigh Rowland, Kelsi, Konner and Kacey Davis, Noah, May and Nathan Scribner, Brayden and Grayson Kell, Taylor Scribner, Karlie and Jaron Townsend; her great-great grandchildren: Sydni Ruddell, Slayden and Tynli Humphries; her brother-in-law Ronald Scribner and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joan was loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and mother; and, even after the loss of her husband 40 years ago, continued to cherish and care for her children and grandchildren unselfishly. She even went back to school in the evenings and got her Master's degree to better care for her family. She was a school teacher at Grayson Elementary and Caldwell Parish Junior High schools for many years and impacted many students' lives for the better during that time. She lived by a high set of moral and ethical standards which she passed on to her children and the children she taught. She was faithful to Grayson Baptist Church for over 40 years. She loved to play the piano and sing in the choir and did so for many years. One of her favorite memories was of playing O Holy Night at Christmas while her daughter and daughter-in-law sang. Joan will be truly missed; but, for those of us who are children of the King, we can rejoice to know that we will see her again one day. We love you Mom! Diana, Randy, Rusty, Kathi and Kristi
