Joe A. Jackson, 85, of 2822 Terry Road, a retired chemical company employee, died of respiratory failure Sunday at Manhattan Health Care Center.

Services are 2 p.m. today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home with burial in Crystal Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson was a Copiah County native. He had lived in Jackson for the past 31 years and was a former Gallman resident.

As a treater operator at Filtrol Corp., Mr. Jackson was responsible for checking systems processes at the chemical company. He retired from the company in 1972. He was a member of Alta Woods Baptist Church.

Survivors include: wife, Ethel; sons, Joe D. Jackson of Wesson and Larry K. Jackson of Jackson; daughters, Vera Jackson and Katherine McMannus, both of Crystal Springs, Mary Harris of Allen, Texas, Lucille White of New Iberia, La., Elouise Lunn of Jackson, Betty Pearson of League City, Texas, Faye Emmons of Seabrook, Texas, Linda Nipper of Hattiesburg and Gayle Barker of Willacoochee, Ga.; brother, Dan Jackson of Gallman; sister, Sallie Wade of Crystal Springs; and 31 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
