JOE MCDONALD

Joe ‘Capt. Joe’ Bradley McDonald, 73, died on September 20, 2008, in Cancun, Mexico. He was born and reared in Arkansas, eldest son of J. M. ‘Shag’ McDonald and Mary Lee Byrd McDonald.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen and daughters Cassandra and Stephania McDonald of Cancun; sons Joe, Jr. and Leland McDonald of Olympia, Washington. His mother Mary, sister Carolyn M. Garrett. Brother David McDonald and beloved nieces and nephews of Louisiana and Florida. Other survivors include two aunts: Mattie B. Upton and Pauline Pintado, both of Arkansas.

He served two tours of duty in the U.S. Army in Germany and Turkey. ‘Capt.’ Joe was well known as a fishing guide off Delacroix Island, Louisiana, for 25 years before retiring to Cancun.

Following cremation, half of his remains were strewn off Isla Mujeros, Cancun, and half in one of his favorite fishing spots, Lake Johns off Delacroix.
