Funeral services for Joe Dan Scott of Greenville will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the Peters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Louise Welch and Rev. Larry Ravert officiating. Burial will be in Tidwell Cemetery. Mr. Scott died on Saturday.
He was born on July 6, 1903, in Hunt County to Dan and Willie Duncan Scott. His first wife, Tommie Puckett, died in 1937. He married Ozelle McClellan in 1944 in Oklahoma. She died in 1961. Then he married Elizabeth Graham on May 18, 1963, in Dallas. He was a retired heavy equipment operator of Buckner Construction in Dallas, a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and a former board member of Tidwell Cemetery Association.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Scott of Greenville; one son, Earnest Warren of Lone Oak; three daughters, Betty Hinson of Marlin, Bobbie Crank of Austin and Peggie Davis of Dallas; two brothers, B.W. Scott of Wolfe City, Andrew Scott of Greenville; and five sisters, Bonnie Sponseller of Dallas, Gladys Trotter of Greenville, Dixie Perrin of Dallas, Willie Mae Cherry of Garland and Frances Jones of San Antonio.
Pallbearers will be Don Spelce, Doug Spelce, David Warren, Andrew Scott Jr., Charlie Scott and Mark Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie McGee, Elmo McDonald, Ples Brown, O.P. Alexander, J.J. Hargett, Bobby Greaves, Dr. Timothy Ellington and Dr. Keith Bearden.
Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
