Joe Hershell Williams
A graveside service for Mr. Joe Hershall Williams, 78, of the Nat Community will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Cole officiating. Joe was called home by his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 14, 2009.
Joe was born on June 19, 1931 in Jacksonville, Texas to the late Clyde Houston Williams and Martha Virginia ``Ginny'' (Hawthorne) Williams. Joe grew up in Jacksonville, Texas, graduating from Jacksonville High School. He served his country in the United States Army as a Corporal in the Korean Conflict. He met his wife, Nara, and they were married on December 29, 1973. They had lived in Houston but for the past twenty six years, resided in the Nat Community in Nacogdoches County.
There are many things you could say about Joe, but the one thing that everyone knew about him was that he loved everybody he met. Joe never said an unkind word, would help anyone in need and was a kind soul. Joe was larger than life when it came to his fellow man. He loved and honored God through his love of people and his family. Joe was a family man. He thoroughly enjoyed family get togethers. His ``mighty sweet boys'', as he lovingly called his grandsons, were the light of his life. All who were lucky enough to know and love Joe, will truly miss him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nara Beavers Williams of Nat; one son, Jarvis Williams of Wichita Falls; daughter, Diane Dockery of Wichita Falls and one sister, Ruth Daniels of Lawrence, Kansas; three grandsons, Alec Dockery, Adam Dockery and Lane Williams, all of Wichita Falls, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Cecil Williams; and five sisters, Jewell Richey, Opal Sessions, Pearl Brightwell, Eva Youngblood and Ruby Fincher.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Williams memory to Life Care Hospice, 320 North St. Nacogdoches, Texas 75965
Visitation with Mr. Williams family will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Laird Funeral Home.
