Joe Louis Weems Dies at Age 60

Funeral services for Joe Louis Weems, 60, a former resident of the Mars Hill Community, were held at 3:30 p.m. today at Adams Methodist Church.

Mr. Weems, who had lived in Baton Rouge for the past 19 years, died at 4:35 p.m. Monday in a local hospital. He had been a patient there for about 10 days.

Born Sept. 6, 1906, he was a native of Pike County.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Erma Weems, Baton Rouge; one son, Joe L. Weems Jr., Eunice, La.; two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Kimble, Shreveport, La., Miss Nancy Louise Weems, Baton Rouge; one brother, Barney G. Weems, Jackson and one sister, Mrs. Alice Hobert, Jackson.

Rev. Bert Felder, Adams pastor, officiated.

Burial was in the Adams Cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SUMMIT -- Services for Joe Louis Weems, 60, were held Tuesday at Adams Methodist Church and interment was in the church cemetery with Hartman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A native of Pike county and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, La., Mr. Weems died in a McComb hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Frances Erma Weems; a son, J. L. Weems Jr., of Eunice, La.; two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Kimble of Shreveport, La., and Miss Nancy Weems of Baton Rouge; and a brother, Barney G. Weems of Jackson; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Hobert, also of Jackson.
