Joe R. Fornea Jr.
(Died March 10, 2004)

BOGALUSA - Joe R. Fornea Jr., 86, a resident of Varnado, died yesterday in the Bogalusa Community Rehabilitation Hospital in Bogalusa. He was a member of Varnado Methodist Church, a veteran of World War II serving in the Unites States Army, and was a member of Magic City Post No. 24 of the American Legion.

He is survived by two sisters, Ferne Martin of Varnado and Faye Dupuy of Port Allen; and three brothers, W.T. Fornea of Varnado, A.M. Fornea of Ferriday, and Walter “Bill” Fornea of Dry Prong.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Myrtis Erwin Fornea; his parents, Joseph and Linnie Fornea; two sisters, Vesta Conerly and Helen Wood; and four brothers, Al Fornea, Charles Fornea, Nolan Fornea, and Coley Fornea.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home today from 4:30-9 p.m. and will continue tomorrow from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral service, to be conducted from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Ester Hammond will officiate at the service. Interment will follow in the Old Fornea Cemetery in Varnado with a military graveside service by Magic City Post No. 24 of the American Legion.
