J. V. Kirksey

BROWNWOOD (RNS) -- Services for Joel Vernon Kirksey, 64, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. John DeFore and the Rev. Joe Priddy officiating.

Burial will be in Jenkins Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Kirksey died at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday in the Brownwood Community Hospital following a short illness. Born Feb. 4, 1906, in Brown County, he was an electrician and a member of the Baptist church.

He had lived most of his life in Brown County and married Mildred Parish Aug. 11, 1969.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Louise Keith, of Austin; two brothers, L. E. Kirksey, of Brownwood, and G. E. Kirksey, of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Betty Curry, Mrs. Virginia Taylor, and Mrs. C. G. Collie, all of Brownwood, and Mrs. Marvin Flowers, of Early; two stepsons, Michael Steel, of Houston, and Tommy Steel, in the Army, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
