John Allen Parker
John Allen Parker, age77, of Austin, entered the presence of the Lord Saturday, December 10, 2011. He was born January 9, 1934 to Albert Clarence Parker and Lillie Belle Parker, in Laurel Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Melba Parker, his parents, and a brother, Clarence Albert Parker, Jr.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are one sister, Emma Jean Payne, husband J.T. Payne; two daughters, Linda Kay Marney, husband Mel, and Carol Sue Parker; three sons, John Allen Parker, Jr., wife Deana, Brian Lee Parker, wife Susan; and Clarence Edward Parker, wife Mari; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was the founder of Austin Coatings Inc., which began in 1959. He was a former president of the Texas Council Painting and Decorating Contractors of America. He served for many years as a board member of the Pleasant Hills Children's Home. He faithfully served as a board member of Central Assembly of God Church and The Bridge Community Church. John had a love for the local churches. During his retirement years he created S.P.A.R.K.; a program that funded and assisted local pastors with the remodeling of their facilities.
John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a loyal friend and mentor to many. He will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Church of Glad Tidings, 2700 Northland Drive, Austin. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Cemetery.
