John Anders
MONTICELLO -- John Benjamin Anders Sr., 78, of Monticello, retired general manager of Crossett Lumber Company and Herman Wilson Lumber Company, died Saturday at Drew Memorial Hospital at Monticello.
He was born November 10, 1910.
A member of First Baptist Church at Monticello where he was a deacon, he was former chairman of the Deacon Boards at both the Crossett and Monticello First Baptist Churches. He taught Sunday school for many years and had served as secretary for U.S. Senator Joe T. Robinson for three years.
He was past treasurer of the Monticello Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary R. Lewis Anders; a son, John B. Anders, Jr. of Yorktown, Virginia; a daughter, Beth Wilson of Fort Worth; five sisters, Frances Spratlin of Dermott, Elizabeth Elliott, Marion Bracy and Julia Weatherall, all of Little Rock; and Virginia Effland of Tempe, Arizona; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Dodson officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery at Monticello.
Memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering at First Baptist Church at Monticello.
