He graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree on May 25th 1952, and began his teaching and coaching career soon there- after in that state. He relocated to California in early 1957 and found an elementary school teaching job in the small town of West Point, CA and spent the next 32 years of his life at that school. John was a school teacher in Calaveras County for 33 years. He touched the lives of many children and had the opportunity to teach and to touch the lives of some of their children too. He was close to teaching his 3rd generation of the same families when he finally retired. Through those years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball with a number of teams throughout Calaveras County. John was an avid golfer and a shareholder/member of Mace Meadows Golf Club.
