John Chambers Berly

John Chambers Berly, Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on September 28, 2014, from liver cancer and other complications.

John was born on October 13, 1930, in Houston, Texas, to John C. “Jack” Berly, Sr. and Louise Masterson Berly. He was raised in Houston and graduated from San Jacinto High School and from The University of Houston with a bachelor's degree in Business. He worked in finance for Shell Oil Company for 37 years before retiring. He was also an avid golfer, musician, and dog lover. John married his childhood sweetheart, Johnnie Lee Allen, on July 9, 1955.

He is survived by his wife, their daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Thomas McIntosh, and their grandchildren Christiana, Olivia, Clarissa, and Kenneth.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his many dogs, including most recently his beloved English bull terrier, Snooks.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
