JOHN CHARLES ``JOHNNY'' GUICE

John Charles ``Johnny'' Guice was born on December 8, 1936 in Epps, Louisiana, to Hixon Robert Guice and Velma Ethyl Lee Guice. In 1958, Johnny moved to the area and worked in the telephone construction industry while serving in the U.S. Army Reserves. On September 10, 1966, he married Clara Lucille Ernstes in Rosenberg, Texas. In 1977, he started Guice Cable Company and ran the company for over 30 years. Johnny was a lifelong fisherman, an avid gardener, and greatly enjoyed helping at the River Bend Baptist Church in Fulshear, where he was a member.

Johnny died on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at the age of 74 years.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Clara Guice; children, John Charles Guice, Jr. of St Meinrad, IN, Barry Wayne Guice & wife Doris, Kay Gordon & husband Jim, and Robert Guice; grandchildren, Shawn, Cameron, Brandie and Corey Guice, Jacob and Jillian Gordon, all of Katy, TX; and sisters, Doris Alexander of Jackson, Mississippi, and Helen Chaplin & husband Curtis of Monroe, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, W.E., Lois and Wayne.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2011, at the River Bend Baptist Church in Fulshear, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2011, with Rev. John Crowe officiating. Interment in Morton Cemetery, in Richmond.
