OAK GROVE - Funeral services for John Clayton Calhoun, age 76, of Oak Grove, Louisiana will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Hill Baptist Church in the Hill Community north of Oak Grove.
Reverends Leslie Yates and Odus Jackson will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove.
Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove.
Mr. Calhoun died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe, Louisiana.
He was a veteran.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Norman Calhoun and Martha Lummie Catron Calhoun; 3 brothers, Robert Earl Calhoun, Hubert Calhoun, and Roy Calhoun; 3 sisters, Gladys Harper, Tressie Gunter, and Dorothy Harper.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marilyn Joyce James Calhoun of Oak Grove; son, Waynon Calhoun of Augusta, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jerry Jackson of Gloster, Mississippi; grandson, Zachary Calhoun of Augusta, Georgia; granddaughter, Brianna Calhoun of Augusta, Georgia; granddaughter and her husband, Jesica and Steven McKenzie of Smithdale, Mississippi; grandson, Adam Jackson; great grandchild, Gabrial Narvaez-Varmora of North Richland, Texas; brother, Willie Calhoun of Dallas, Texas; sister, Edna Jarnevic of Oak Grove; sister, Ruby Hylender of Magee, Mississippi; and sister, Dolly Miley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Pallbearers are: Richard Calhoun, Norman Calhoun, Jack Underwood, Rex Calhoun, Jeff Davidson, Pat Harper, and Johnny Calhoun.
Honorary Pallbearers are Deacons of Hill Baptist Church.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 10PM on Monday, January 12, 2009 and from 10AM until time of service on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Hill Baptist Church.
