John Clyde Campbell Sr.
NATCHEZ -- Funeral services for John Clyde Campbell Sr., 95, of Natchez, who died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Glenburney Nursing Home, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vidalia Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Ronald Hall and the Rev. J.J. Bourn Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel and from 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the church.
Mr. Campbell was born Sept. 18, 1913, in Franklin County, the son of Millard F. and Bernice Ford Campbell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Zelma Freeman Campbell; one daughter, Alice Winters; three brothers, Rudolph, Farr and William (Dub) Campbell; and two sisters, Ernestine Hal Ford and Florine Davis.
Survivors include one son, J.C. Campbell Jr. and wife Mary of Glenn Heights, Texas; two daughters, Betty Holloway and husband Jerry and Doris Smith and husband Leon, all of Natchez; one son-in-law, J.C. Winters Natchez; eight grandchildren, Donald Winters of Natchez, Jackie Winters of Brandon, Gary Holloway and wife Tawana of Natchez, Greg Holloway and wife Katie of Belton, Texas, Rhonda Bourn and husband Romey of Houston, Lisa Henson and husband Mike of Edwardsville, Ill., Joel Smith and wife Any of Dallas and Stephen Campbell and wife Rebecca of Richardson, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Mayer and husband Brandon of Helena, Ala., Heather Summerlin and husband Peter of Madison, Rachel Holloway of Natchez, Katie Beth Holloway of Auburn, Ala., David Bailey and wife Sarah, Derrick Bailey and Megan Bailey, all of Houston, Michael Henson and wife Miriam of St. Louis, Amy Henson of Edwardsville, Ill., and Colin and Brenda Campbell of Richardson, Texas; three great-great grandsons, Grayson and Hayes Mayer of Helena, Ala., and Cole Bailey of Houston. He is also survived by his extended family and a host of friends.Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
