JOHN D. BOYD

NEWTON -- John Dan Boyd, a native of Jasper County, died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Glenwood Carpenter, at Chunky April 11. He was born February 25, 1874, a son of the late James and Rebecca McCarthy Boyd. He was a farmer and a member and Deacon in the Poplar Springs Baptist Church, near Newton.

His funeral was conducted at the Poplar Springs Baptist Church at the Rev. Carey Wicker and the Rev. E. L. Cain officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery, Hutson Funeral Home of Newton directing. J. E. Buckley, Fred Hynes, Lois Graham, Lonnie Alexander, Ben Carpenter, and Marvin Clark served as pall bearers.

Boyd leaves, in addition to his daughter, one sister, Mrs. Davis of Laurel; three brothers, Odie Boyd of Laurel, Oscar and Allen Boyd of California; three grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
