John David Downing
John David Downing, 21, of Knoxville, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
Born on February 10, 1990 in Berryville, Arkansas, John is the son of James F. Downing, II and Joanna Lynne (Johnson) Downing of Knoxville.
John attended Pleasant Valley Elementary School as well as Boonsboro Middle and High Schools. He was known for his love of music and times spent driving in the car with his family. John was the spark for various legislative intiatives and was fortunate to have had the opporunity to meet many congressional members as well as former United States Presidents.
In addition to his parents, John is survived by his sister, Olum Morgan of Burlington, Washington; his four brothers, Jeremy W. Downing of New Braunfels, Texas, Benjamin Z. Downing of Durango, Colorado, James F. Downing, III of Austin, Texas and Corey C. Downing, currently on active duty with the United States AirForce; his maternal grandfather, Charles A. Johnson of Tucson, Arizona; and his paternal grandfather, James F. Downing, I and his wife Marjorie of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. John is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and will be fondly remembered by his many, many friends.
John was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Virginia C. (Williams) Johnson and his paternal grandmother Betty L. (McDonald) Downing.
Family and friends will gather for a celebration of John's life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland. Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate. Immediately following the celebration the family will receive guests for a time of friendship and fellowship at the funeral home. Burial services for John will be held privately.
