John D. Eubank
John David Eubank, 52, passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007. John David had battled Parkinson's disease since he was 23 years old.
He was born Nov. 7, 1955, in Dennison, Texas.
John David received a GED from Hutchison Career Center in 1975 and was a baker's helper on the trans-Alaska oil pipeline before moving to Nome and Mountain Village where he met his wife, Doris Beans.
John David was president of Ananda Marga of Alaska, Inc. (a meditation center) and his faith held great importance to him. His Ananda Marga given name was Govinda.
Before John David was diagnosed with Parkinson's, he was an avid body builder and learned taxidermy as a teenager. When he was very young, his mother related, he wanted to build a house, his first being a simple lean-to in the woods.
Each of his ``houses'' was better than the last until he built a fine, sturdy dwelling still in use on the homestead.
John David appreciated people visiting him, especially Larry Katkin and best friend, David Krier. His face would light up when he had visitors.
Even though he could no longer talk easily, his mind was fierce and he was determined to lead his own destiny.
John David was preceded in death by his father, John Jerome Eubank.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Reed Eubank of Melbourne, Fla.; children, John Joseph, Stephan, Robert, Kassandra and Alex Beans; sisters, Roby Littlefield of Sitka and Celeste Goering of Fairbanks; and brother, Gregory Eubank of Fairbanks.
John David's wishes were to be cremated and that there be no service.
Arrangements were by Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
