COUPLE IS HONORED ON FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY
The home of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Deeter, 622 Hillcrest Drive, was the scene of a joyous occasion Christmas Eve when Mr. Deeter's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Lewis of 209 East Moneta Drive celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a dinner party.
The table was laid with white linen and decorated with white candles and golden balls. The centerpiece was a small white tree decorated with golden bells containing gifts of money from the guests as well as from the absent loved ones.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were married in Louisiana, December 24, 1899. They came to California in 1928, making their home in El Monte until two years ago when they came to Bakersfield. They are the parents of four children: Mrs. Mark O. Deeter of Bakersfield, Mrs. A. D. Ford of Griffin, Indiana; Rupert D. Lewis of Zwolle, La., and Mrs. C. R. McMillin of El Monte. They also have twelve grand-children and nine great-grandchildren.
Those present at the dinner were: Mr. and Mrs. Mark O. Deeter, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Deeter and two sons, Michael and Danny of Bakersfield, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Carlson and son, Ronny, of Paso Robles, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. McMillin, Larry Deeter, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Carter and daughter, Monna Lu, and son, David, of El Monte, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Reynolds of Compton, Mrs. Maude Deeter of Burbank and Everett Deeter of Tacoma, Wash.
