John D. Lewis Services Monday

John D. Lewis, 90, Modesto, Calif., the father of a local woman, died in a Modesto hospital at 6 a.m. Saturday following a brief illness.

Mr. Lewis had resided in this area, chiefly near Vivian, until 1930. He was an oil field worker and migrated to the West Coast with the oil business.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. J. D. Lewis of Modesto; three daughters, Mrs. A. D. Ford, Bayou Trailer Courts, Bossier City, Mrs. Mona O'Donnell, Kernville, Calif., and Mrs. Ouida McMillan, Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Will Lewis, Palestine, Tex.; and numerous grandchildren including thr[e]e grandsons and one granddaughter in the local area.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Green Lawn Funeral Home in Bakersfield, Calif. at 2:30 p.m. Monday with burial to follow in the Green Lawn Cemetery.
