John Delano Hendrex
December 8, 1938 - May 17, 2015

John Delano Hendrex, Sr. was born December 8, 1938 in Ville Platte, LA and passed away May 17, 2015 in Kingwood, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Sybille M. Hendrex and his parents, D.L. Hendrex, Sr. and Vera J. Hendrex.

He is survived by sons: John, Jr. (Janice) and Jeff (Carolyn); grandchildren: Kelly Hendrex, Ashlee Hendrex, and Jake Hendrex; step-grandchildren: Alison B. McGinty, Savhana McWhirter (Tim), and Alyssa Harris; brother, D.L. Hendrex, Jr. (Joan); niece, Tiffany Warwick (Gary); nephew, Todd Hendrex (Stephanie); grand-nieces Leslie and Amanda Warwick and grand-nephew, Nathan Hendrex; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

John attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston. J.D., as he later liked to be called, was very mechanically inclined and loved to build and fix things. At his first job with Armco Steel, he learned welding from his father. At his second job with United Refrigeration, where his mother also worked, he learned refrigeration. In approximately 1957, J.D., his brother D.L., and his parents started Southern Refrigeration on Laura Koppe Road. There were several other private business endeavors, special projects, and adventures during his life.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 10:30 AM at Brookside Memorial Park.
