JOHN EATON PARSONS
John Eaton Parsons, 85, Victoria, TX, (formerly of Houston, TX,) died Wednesday, December 17, 1997. Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Victoria, TX.
Mr. Parsons was born October 1, 1912, in Kansas City, KS, to the late John Ryman and Viola Eaton Parsons. He was a retired construction supervisor and had participated in building a number of air bases in the southwest during early World War II, including Holloman Air Force Base. He later worked in the repairs and maintenance of the Titan II Missile silos in Arkansas and Arizona. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, Monroe, LA, and attended Eldorado Jr. College and Northeastern University. A commissioned United States Marine Corps officer, he served in the South Pacific in World War II. He was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son and one grandson, Richard J . Henges III.
Survivors include daughters, Joan Parsons Henges, Roeland Park, KS, and Barbara Parsons Smith, Victoria, TX; six grandchildren, Claire Smith, Boston, MA, and from the greater Kansas City area, Theresa, Victoria, Gerald and Brian Henges, Mary Henges Still; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard J. Henges, Jr., Gerald Christopher Henges, Brian Francis Henges, Elton Tuch, Howard Shahan and Harlan Hensel.
