John Elton Powers
Following a lengthy battle with cancer, John Elton Powers, 68, of Bryan passed away Friday, October 17, 2003 in the St. Joseph Regional Health Center. Mr. Powers was born June 9, 1935 in Bryan, Texas, to John C. & Lizzie Ruth (Smith) Powers. He was a graduate of SFA High School and was a life long resident of Bryan. Mr. Powers was a retired Master Plumber and owner of J.E. Powers Plumbing, Inc.
He had a passion for fishing, hunting, racecars and motorcycles. Mr. Powers was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is preceded in death by a son, Elton Lane Powers, and a brother, Nathan Powers.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Layne E. & Lisa Herr of College Station, a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Gary West of Trinity, Texas, a brother, Donald Powers of Bryan, six grandchildren, Tara and Eslin Powers of College Station, Brittany, Kaila and Shane Herr all of College Station and Beau West of Trinity as well as four great grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday in the Hillier Funeral Home, Bryan, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Danny Green of Covenant Family Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Steep Hollow Cemetery.
