John Gilcrease, Jr.
February 16, 1927 - January 5, 2014

Services for Mr. John Gilcrease, Jr. will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Alpine First Baptist Church, Tioga, Louisiana with Brother Dick DeBusk and Brother Lucas LaCour officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

The family requests that visitation be observed Tuesday at Alpine First Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Gilcrease, 86, of Pineville passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at his residence.

He was a member and deacon of Alpine First Baptist Church. Mr. Gilcrease served his country in the Army during the Korean War. During his working life he worked at the VA Medical Center retiring after 29 years of service. Mr. Gilcrease also coached Ward 10 Baseball for 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ablell and Audie Cockerham Gilcrease, brother, Jack Gilcrease; sisters, Josie Paige, Jewel Glenn, Johnnie Mae Sloan, Jessie Barkdull.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Mary Bolen Gilcrease; sons, John Clarence Gilcrease and wife, Peggy, Jim Gilcrease and wife, Sandy, Kenneth Gilcrease; daughters, Frances Gilcrease Herrin and husband, Mike, Janice Gilcrease Courville and husband, Dan, Dorinda Gilcrease Walker and husband, Ron, Carolyn Gilcrease Dunbar and husband, Richard; brother, J. B. Gilcrease; sisters, Jerald Rose Stiller and husband, Jack, Joy Stoneking; fifteen grandchildren, John Michael Gilcrease, Kristy Purdy, Katy Parker, Nadar Ajlani, Shadhi Ajlani, Danielle Courville, Eric Courville, Billy Crawford, Carrie Crawford Daniel, Dustin Gilcrease, Brandon Lovas, Alissa Dunbar, Courtney Herrin, Kelsey Herrin and Kayla Herrin Myers and eighteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Michael Gilcrease, Shadhi Ajlani, Eric Courville, Billy Crawford, Dustin Gilcrease, Justin Riddle, Keith Daniel and Ronnie Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Alpine First Baptist Church.
