JOHN GORDY FOWLER
OAK GROVE (Special) -- Funeral services for John Gordy Fowler, 76, were held at 2:30 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.
The Rev. J. D. Cheatham officiated, and interment followed in the Oak Grove cemetery, under direction of Blackwell-Golden Funeral home of Bastrop.
A retired plumber and a resident of West Carroll parish since 1900, Mr. Fowler died Sunday night in an Oak Grove clinic, following a long illness.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bulah Fowler, Oak Grove; five daughters, Miss Olita Fowler, Oak Grove, Mrs. Lelia Heindel, Midland, Mich., Mrs. Hilton Evans, Alexandria, Mr. Della Joe McCafferty, Cincinnati, Ohio and Mrs. Mary Louise Smith, El Dorado, Ark.; one son, John Robert Fowler, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Shrell and Mrs. Ida Chambless, both of Oak Grove; two brothers, Dr. I. R. Fowler, Waskom, Tex., and E. B. Fowler, Dallas, Tex.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Pallbearers were H. C. McClanahan, L. B. Mosley, Felix Roberts, Percy Nix, Henry Thomas, Clayton Shrock, Robert Newton and Charlie Hankins.
