Whittington Dies at 86

John H. Whittington, 86, of 4305 Hanover, father of Dallas County Commissioner John H. Whittington Jr., died here Saturday.

Whittington, a native of Fort Worth and a Dallas resident for 42 years, was employed at Van Winkle Motor Co. for 28 years, serving as general sales manager until his partial retirement in 1958. He was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church.

Rosary will be recited 3 p.m. Sunday in Jerome J. Crane Funeral Chapel, 6534 E. Northeast Highway. Requiem Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday in Christ The King Catholic Church and burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery.

WHITTINGTON -- John H., Sr., 4305 Hanover, died Saturday.

Survived by son, John H. Whittington Jr., Irving; sisters, Mrs. Jennebelle Marinchek, Bloomington, Illinois, Mrs. Mabel Sherrill, Bloomington; grandchildren, Virginia (Ginger) Marie Chalkley, Mark, Lynn, Jean Ann and Marie Whittington, all of Irving; two great-grandchildren.

Rosary was recited 3 p.m. Sunday, Crane Chapel. Requiem Mass 10 a.m. Monday, Christ The King Catholic Church, Rev. William Botik celebrant. Interment Calvary Hill Cemetery.
