John Hardison Allen
Mr. John Hardison Allen, age 104 of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Monday, January 29, 2007 in NHC Oakwood.
Mr. Allen was a native of Marshall County, Tennessee and son of the late Charles Brown and Evalena Wiley Allen. He was a farmer and owner and operator of John Allen Grocery from 1953 until 1968. He was a member of Church St. Church of Christ and served for several years as an Elder and Treasure of Mooresville Church of Christ. The Lewisburg Rotary Club honored him with Citizen of the Year when he was 100 years old.
Preceded in death by his wife, Roxie McConnel Allen, two sons, Charles Houston Allen and John Frank Allen, two daughters, Barbara Ann Allen and Betty Alice Allen, he is survived by two daughters, Martha Derryberry and Marie Williams both of Lewisburg, four grandchildren, Bill (Diane) Derryberry, Jr. of Cornersville, Stacie (Bob) Bettinson of Acton, Massachusetts, John (Andrea) Derryberry of Lewisburg, Charlie (Jennifer) Williams of Murfreesboro and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted by Charles Williamson and Vinton Morgan Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial in Lone Oak Cemetery. Nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family was at London Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday until the funeral hour for visitation.
