JOHN HARVEY POE

Mr. John Harvey Poe, age 90 of Crockett, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007 in the Houston County Nursing Home. Mr. Poe was born November 23, 1916 in Latexo to Walter Henderson Poe and Janie Dixon Poe. Mr. Poe was a graduate of Lovelady Schools in 1936. Mr. Poe married Nelma Louise Arnold and they had two daughters. Mr. Poe had been a resident of Crockett for the past 30 years. Prior to moving to Crockett he had lived in Houston for many years. While in Houston, Mr. Poe worked for TXDOT, Mustang Tractor and Equipment, Sinclair Refining and Arco. Mr. Poe was loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include his daughters Darla Nell Lawrence, of Lovelady, Carol Jeannine Blazek and Steve Stone, of Huntsville; grandchildren Jerry Don Lawrence and wife Lauretta, of Keller, John Gary Lawrence, of Lovelady, Dennis William Harrison and wife Ramona, of Spring, Nicholaus Poe Blazek, of Bryan, Lori Beth Blazek Slott and husband Brent, of New Waverly; great-grandchildren Emily Sue Lawrence, of Cypress, Jarod Wayne Lawrence, of Houston, Sarah Elizabeth Lawrence, of Keller, Christina Lynn Lawrence, of Austin, John Timothy Lawrence, of Lovelady, Stephen Dane Harrison, Morgan Diane Harrison, both of Lufkin, Zachary Harrison, of Spring, Raegan Alyssa Slott, of New Waverly; brothers W. H. Poe, Jr. and wife Irene, of Pennington, Paul E. Poe and wife Gwendolyn, of Livingston; sister Ruth Seymour Martin of Priceville, Ala.; nieces and nephews Ron Easton, JoAnn Easton McMillian, Michelle Cook, Pat McDonald, Pam Tome, Randy Seymour and Gene Seymour; numerous other relatives, dear friends of Houston County.

Preceded in death by his wife Nelma Louise Arnold Poe; parents Walter Henderson Poe, Sr. and Janie Dixon Poe; one brother and two sisters.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Harvey Poe were held Tuesday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Rex Harrell officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery.
