John H. Austin
Mr. John H. Austin, 72, of Pensacola, died Tuesday afternoon at a local hospital.
Mr. Austin was a native of Columbia, LA, but had resided at Pensacola for the past 28 years. He was retired as a
supervisor for the mosquito control office for Escambia County.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Ruby J. Austin, of Pensacola; two sons, John Wayne Austin, of Port Arthur, TX
and Gary Michael Austin, of Rustin, LA; two daughters, Laura Ann DeTomaso, of Port Arthur, TX, and Charlotte Fay
Janis, of Bridge City, TX; three step daughters, Sandra Thomas, of Anchorage, Alaska, Diane Cox, of Dothan, AL and
Patricia Lee, Mobile, AL; two sisters, Lena Green, of Bozier City, LA and May Cody, of Jackson, MS; a sister-in-law,
Gussie Austin, of Mobile, AL; 12 grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a step great
granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. John Stacy officiating.
Burial will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Arthur Peagler, Howard Shinton, Joe Lawson, James Parker, and Lee Mack.
Honorary pallbearers will be Foster Snider and Clifford Wilburn.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
