MR. J. J. WHATLEY DIES SUNDAY AT A MACON HOSPITAL

Funeral Services Held Monday at Goddard's Funeral Home

Mr. Johnnie Jacob Whatley, 42 years of age, died at the Macon hospital Sunday morning following an illness of about three weeks.

Mr. Whatley was born in Macon county and moved to Reynolds during his early manhood, where has had since been engaged in farming and mercantile interests. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist church.

Mr. Whatley was drafted for military service during the World War but was fo[r]ced to withdraw after several months' service due to ill health.

Funeral services were held for the deceased Monday afternoon at Goddard's funeral home in Reynolds followed by [i]nterment at Bethlehem cemetery. Rev. W. H. Emerson conducted the last sad rites.

Pallbearers were: Messrs Lawrence Simmons, Lucious Simmons, Ernest Childree, Roy Childree, Archie and R. C. Barfield.

Mr. Whatley is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Cox Whatley, and one daughter, Miss Juanita Whatley; one brother and four sisters and a large number of nieces and nephews.
