John “Bud” A. McIntyre
John A. “Bud” McIntyre, 70, formerly of Rayville, Louisiana, passed away on June 10, 2012. Bud was born on November 24, 1941, to the union of Lee and Roxie Whittington McIntyre in Gilbert, Louisiana. He was the youngest of nine children.
Bud was a big guy with a heart of gold. He was also a Jack of all trades. He held various jobs during his lifetime, including being a custodian at the garment factory in Mangham, truck stop gas attendant, musician and nightclub bouncer. Briefly he and his wife organized garage sales, a recycler before recycling was cool. He enjoyed playing the guitar with his extended family and friends but could also play the fiddle. He could always tell a good story with details and phrases that kept you laughing.
In addition to his parents, Bud was predeceased by his wife, Nellie Horne Powell, a sister, Leola “Sis” Williamson, and three brothers, Jesse “Shorty” McIntyre, Frank “Pete” McIntyre, and Willie “Teady” McIntyre. He is survived by his sister, Donnis “Punk” Ezell of Gilbert, brothers L. M. “Coop” McIntyre of Bastrop, James “Man” McIntyre of Jigger, and William “Ball” McIntyre of Gilbert, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Other special people in his life were the ladies of Plantation Manore Nursing Home who went above and beyond to pay attention to Bud and made the end of his life a joy.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Young's Community Memorial Funeral Home in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Dr. Bill Robertson officiating. Pallbearers will be Leon McIntyre, Lynn McIntyre, Buster Williamson, Ken McKay, and Russ Barefield. Bud will be buried in McKnight Cemetery in Holly Ridge.
