John M. Grant Dies In Carroll
WINONA -- Services for John Montgomery Grant, of Jefferson community, Carroll county, will be held from Liberty church Monday, at two o'clock. Dr. Harry Spencer of Jackson and Rev. James Breland of Cleveland will officiate. Burial in Jefferson cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Grant died in Grenada Hospital Saturday night, following a long illness. He was 63, and a Baptist. He was the son of the late J. H. and Sarah McClellan Grant pioneer settlers of Carroll county.
He had spent his entire life in the Jefferson community where he was civic leader, merchant and large land owner. In 1915, he married Miss Lettie Emmons.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Hermon Duncan of Columbia, South Carolina, Mrs. L. T. McCracken of Grenada; two sons, John P. Grant of Greenville, Emmons Grant of the U. S. Air Corps, Shepherd Field, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Vivian Flowers, Mrs. George Ussery, Miss Clemmie Grant all of Greenwood; three brothers, S. B. Grant of Doddsville, Jim Grant of Brandon, Tex., U. S. Grant of Terrell, Ark.
