John M. Rider
John Mose Rider, 81, of Liberty died May 1, 2001, at his daughter's residence in Dickinson, Texas.
Visitation is 5-9 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, continuing at 9 a.m. Friday until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. Bobby Greer and the Rev. Al Stockton will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.
Mr. Rider was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Red Bay, Ala. He was the son of the late Euley Cazzle Rider and Lavirda Allen Rider.
He was a logging contractor. He had been retired for 19 years, and in that time he enjoyed farming, raising cattle and caring for his wife. His family said he was a dedicated member, deacon and longtime Sunday school superintendent of Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy in the Busy Corner community. They said he will be remembered by his wonderful outlook on life.
Survivors include one son, John Milton Rider of Asheville, N.C.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Aubrey Sterling of Gloster and Sharon and Tommy Turnley of Dickinson, Texas; five grandchildren, Mark Turnley and Terri Bolton, both of Houston, Texas, Brad Turnley and his wife Tascha of San Leon, Texas, Nicole Womack and her husband Brian of Liberty, and Adam Sterling of Liberty; and two great-grandchildren, Kayley Womack and Caden Turnley.
Pallbearers will be Adam Sterling, Brian Womack, Mark Turnley, Brad Turnley, Sony Rider and Charlie Rider.
