John Robert “Sonny” Fowler

Fowler, John Robert “Sonny” “Granddaddy” A loving husband, father and granddaddy, John Fowler died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at 4:10 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton rouge, LA. He was 85, and a retired petrochemical operator with Ethyl-Albermerle Corp. with more than 40 years of service. He was a resident of Baton Rouge, LA and a native of Oak Grove, LA.

Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. John Goodwin.

Visiting at Cox Funeral Home, Oak Grove, on Friday, Sept. 16, with interment following. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Fowler Brister; son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Peggy Fowler; former daughter-in-law, Liz Hamilton; three grandchildren, John Brian Fowler, Alicia Kay Ruiz and Marci Lyn Brister; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Thelma Dosher Fowler; six sisters, Oleta, Jo, Hilton, Sissy, Lelia and Edith.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Wednesday Morning Men's Prayer Breakfast Group of Broadmoor Baptist Church.

Mr. Fowler loved his church family very much. He was also a devoted movie and television fan, having played roles as an extra in productions such as “Glory Road,” “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” and “Touched by an Angel.” He also enjoyed fishing.

Graveside funeral services for John “Sonny” Fowler, Sr., age 85, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana will be held at 12PM noon on Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Mr. Fowler died Monday, Septermber 12, 2005 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Survivors include a son, John Fowler, Jr. of Baton Rouge and a daughter, Brenda Brister of Watson, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Dosher Fowler.

Family will receive friends between the hours of 10AM to Noon on Friday, September 16, 2005 at Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
