SHREVEPORT -- Funeral services were to be at 2:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Bossier City for John Robert Simpson, 65, of Bossier City.
Dr. Damon Vaughn and the Rev. John Warner were to officiate, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home of Bossier City.
He died Saturday evening at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital here after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Simpson was employed by the Texas Gas Transmission Corp. for 30 years and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier City. He was a native of Downsville. He had resided in Bossier City for the past 23 years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eula Simpson of Bossier City; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne Shepard of Arlington, Va. and Mrs. Jack B. Key of Lafayette; a son, Robert Simpson of Shreveport; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Henry, Mrs. Palmer Dean and Mrs. Lewis Furr, all of Farmerville; eight brothers, Roy Simpson, Herbert Simpson, Arnold Simpson and Modell Simpson, all of Eudora, Ark., Clayton Simpson of McGhee, Ark., Lavelle of Marina, Calif., Dannis Simpson of West Memphis, Ark., and Carey Simpson of Lewiston, Idaho; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Needham Ball, Harold Hughes, Hilton Cox, Lee Dunnaway, Allen Herrin and Ross Sutherland, Bill Ellenberg and L. Joiner.
