John R. Deegan
Funeral services for John R. Deegan, 60, of Bryan, will be held at 4 p.m.
today at Callaway-Jones Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Rev. Chris Osborne
of Central Baptist Church will officiate.
Burial will be at Steep Hollow Cemetery in Steep Hollow.
Deegan died Monday afternoon in a local hospital.
He was born in Chicago and moved to Bryan in August after spending 13 years
in Elon College, N.C. He retired from American Telephone and Telegraph Co.
in December after working 30 years as an engineer.
Deegan earned his bachelor's degree in electrical engineer from Texas
A&M University in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force during
the Korean War.
He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church in Burlington, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Dyess Deegan of Bryan; his son
and daughter-in-law, John and Yngrid Deegan of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his
daughter, Susan Deegan of Greensboro, N.C.; his daughter and son-in-law,
Danice and Paul Corbin of Bryan; and three grandchildren.
