Mr. John V. Barefoot Dead

Mr. John Vinson Barefoot, of Meadow township, died at his home on the night of July 10th, death coming within an hour after he had been stricken by apoplexy.

The deceased was about 58 years of age and was one of the leading farmers of his section, and was a prominent citizen of the county. He was a son of the late M. V. Barefoot , of Meadow township. When but a young man he was married to Miss Alice Lee, of Ingrams township, by whose help he has reared a family of ten children.

The funeral took place on the afternoon of the 11th. The services were conducted by Elder Jesse Barnes of Smithfield, and the remains were laid to rest in the family burial ground near the old homestead, where a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends had gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to their kinsman and friend.

The deceased is survived by three sisters, Mrs. C. V. Young, Mrs. J. R. Hargrove, and Mrs. Amanda Morgan. He is also survived by his wife and ten children.
