The Rev. John W. Hickson Jr.

The Rev. John W. ``Bill'' Hickson Jr., 78, of Sandersville, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Sandersville Baptist Church, with burial in Sandersville Cemetery. The Revs. Bud Swindall and David Parker will officiate.

A retired minister, he served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of Sandersville Baptist Church. He held positions as associate pastor, minister of educaiton, minister of music and chaplain.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. ``Bill'' and Belle Hickson, and two brothers, Jamie Lee Hickson and Hubert Melvin Hickson.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Suddith Hickson of Sandersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Wayne and Teresa Hickson of Parrottsville, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Judith Ann and Dwayne McCoy of Lake Charles, La.; a brother, Cecil W. Hickson of Molina, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Wayne Hickson, Jacob Alexander Hickson and Anne Marie Hickson, all of Parrottsville, Tenn.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bible study class at Sandersville and the Silver Liners Choir and church deacons.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of arrangements.
