J. Ward Camp dies; rites at 10:30 Friday
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Green's Creek Baptist Church for J. Ward Camp, 79, who died Wednesday night at his home in Dixie Community.
Rev. Q. C. Barrett, Rev. J. P. Holcomb and Rev. Milton Turney will officiate. Burial will be in Green's Creek Cemetery with Hulett Funeral Home in charge.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. B. E. Green, Roe Robertson, Forest Barnes, J. E. Wilson, Ben Stevens, William Haralson, R. L. Dawkins, E. C. Anderson, Charlie Montgomery and M. A. Rainey.
Mr. Camp was a deputy sheriff under Sheriff Hardy Norsworthy and was the first superintendent of the Forrest County Home. He was a former deacon at Green's Creek Church.
Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Esther Lee Oliver, city; and Mrs. Mary Gertrude Smith, New Orleans; a son, Tom Brame Camp, Rt. 7; three sisters, Mrs. Maggie Bourne, Jackson; Mrs. B. A. Lee, Rt. 6; and Mrs. Adolph Herring, Petal; four brothers, O. C., Rt. 6; Tom C., Rt. 5; W. G., Petal; and L. I., Baton Rouge; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
