JOHN WEBSTER FORD
JENA, La., Aug. 21. -- La Salle parish lost one of its pioneer citizens in the death of John Webster Ford, which occurred at the family residence here Saturday morning at 7:15. Mr. Ford was 75 years, 6 months and 29 days old. He was born and reared near Jena and had spent his entire life time here. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elizah Ford, who were among the first settlers in this vicinity.
He was married on January 3, 1882, to Miss Mattie Neve [sic Neal] in Jena. Mr. Ford was a member of the Jena Baptist church.
Funeral services were held near Jena Sunday morning, August 15, with Rev. Monroe Enterkin officiating. Interment was in the Hair cemetery.
Deceased is survived by his widow of Jena, three daughters, Mrs. F. W. Richardson, of Rhinehart; Mrs. Ulis Floyd and Mrs. G. O. Peyton of Jena; three sons, R. E. Ford of Jena; D. A. Ford of Rhinehart and Ezra Ford of Texas; two brothers, Henry Ford of Jena and I. F. Ford of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Jim Griffin of Jena; one half-sister, Mrs. Amanda Bass of Monroe; one half-brother, Willis Ford, of Harrisonburg; sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
