Maples Funeral Rites Scheduled Today In Area

FERRIDAY (Special) -- Funeral services for John Wesley Maples, 72, of Ferriday, were scheduled to be held in Clayton Pentecostal Church at 10 a.m. today with brother Clarence Wiley officiating.

Mr. Maples was the brother of Mrs. Nancy Fields of Monroe.

Burial was to be in Huffman Cemetery, near Manifest, under direction of Young's Funeral Home of Ferriday.

Mr. Maples died Sunday morning in a hospital here following a lengthy illness.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Maples, Ferriday; five sons, Virgil Maples, Ozie Maples and Joel Maples, all of Ferriday, Robert Maples, Waterproof and Alton Maples, Buras; three daughters, Mrs. Mattie Gotreaux, Buras, Mrs. Marie Montplier, Jonesville and Mrs. Rosalee Mock, El Paso, Tex.; two brothers, Butler Maples and Bullard Maples, both of Clayton; four other sisters, Mrs. Mollie Tarver, Ferriday, Mrs. Alice Drummons, Clayton, Mrs. Sallie Reeves, Bastrop and Mrs. Mathilda McGeehee [sic Matilda McGaughey], Huntsville, Tex., and 21 grandchildren.
