Johnnie F. Whittaker

SHREVEPORT, LA - Services fro Johnnie F. Whittaker, 85, will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 1989 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Jerry Gill, former pastor of Lakeshore Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest Park West.

Mr. Whitaker died at 2:10 a.m., Tuesday, December 26, 1989 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Toro, Louisiana, was a former resident of Sabine and Vernon Parishes and had resided in Shreveport for 30 years. Mr. Whittaker was a carpenter for the Department of Civil Service and a deacon of Lakeshore Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army War World II [sic World War II].

He is survived by his wife, Lois Savell Whittaker of Shreveport; three daughters, Gwen Howard and husband, Derrell of Shreveport, Dorothy LaGrone and husband Lynn of Carthage, Texas, and Shirley Miller and husband, Tommy of Roswell, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Judy Schurman, Marlene LaGrone both of Shreveport, Lynnette LaGrone of Carthage, Texas, Linda Howard of Dallas, Texas, Kevin LaGrone of Beaumont, Texas, Doug Miller of Baton Rouge, La., and Sherri Miller of Roswell, Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Schurman, Jody and Jesseca LaGrone; one brother, Ivy Carroll Whittaker of Ozark, Alabama and one sister, Alene Buis of Austin, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Kevin LaGrone, Doug Miller, Kenneth Martin, Cliff Ogden, Alvin Dupree and Larry Wayne Latill.
